To improve Discogs inventory synchronization, prevent incorrect orders and work around periodic API limitations, it is essential to ensure an inventory free of discrepancies and unsynced listings.
Unlisted or outdated products on Discogs can lead to duplicate sales and order disputes when a record has already been sold elsewhere or removed from your inventory.
The Discogs Discrepancy Tool is a diagnostic feature designed to help sellers highlight stock differences between their Discogs inventory and their Common Ground catalogue. It automatically gathers listings that appear on Discogs but are no longer present or valid in your Common Ground inventory.
Generate a report
Reports can be generated manually from Discogs Discrepancy Reports or automatically once every day by enabling auto-reporting from the account's preferences.
Actions to take
1) Run the report regularly to identify stock discrepancies,
2) Unlist manually all dangling Discogs listings,
3) If necessary, re-list affected stocked items to Discogs from your inventory.
How it works?
The tool compares your current Common Ground inventory with your active Discogs listings. It flags any “dangling listings” — items that exist on Discogs but not in Common Ground.
Take corrective action by unlisting these items or updating them directly from the report view.
You may generate as many reports as necessary, but keep in mind you can unlist dangling items using only the most recently generated report.
Processing a report may take up to 15 minutes.
For large inventories, generating a Discrepancy Report may require downloading a ZIP archive from Discogs. In such cases, Discogs will automatically send you an email notification and no action is required.
FAQ
Q: Why did a Sold Out item Common Ground just sell on Discogs?
Q: Why did a Sold Out item Common Ground just sell on Discogs?
A: Occasionally a listing will sell on Common Ground via the Eshop or POS, but this item will not be unlisted from Discogs during the transaction. Because of infrequent instability with the Discogs API connection, this item can unknowingly remain on Discogs (dangling listing) and erroneously sell again. This is why it is very important to run a discrepancy report regularly to keep your Discogs sync clean and up to date and avoid these issues.
