E-invoicing will become mandatory across Europe, with country-specific rollouts starting in September 2026, including in France.
The transition is phased. From September 2026, all businesses must be able to receive electronic invoices. The ecosystem (platforms, formats, reporting) will then stabilize progressively through 2027. For most SMEs, the obligation to issue electronic invoices comes later, by 2028.
In practical terms, the first change you will experience is receiving invoices in a new format. Issuing invoices will not be required immediately.
What we’re doing on our side
We are preparing Common Ground to be fully ready for the first e-invoicing milestone in 2026. Working closely with expert accounting and compliance partners, we are enhancing data exports, structuring information according to e-invoicing standards, and ensuring seamless interoperability with tools such as Time, Indy, or similar solutions. Our goal is to integrate smoothly with your existing workflows and systems while keeping everything compliant, reliable, and ready well before the September 2026 deadline.
What this means for you
There is no immediate action required on invoice issuance if you are an SME. The first milestone is 2026, with the ability to receive electronic invoices. The rest of the transition is gradual, with more time to adapt before 2028.
We will keep the process incremental and documented, so you always know what is changing and when.
